In today’s competitive business environment, every company faces a major challenge: how best to attract, and keep, tomorrow’s leaders. Parker is staying a step ahead, by investing in an early career leadership program to support young talents in the EMEA region.
By 2025, millennials will form 75 percent of the global workforce. This generation is highly motivated, independent and brings its own perspectives to business. Parker is determined to celebrate the fresh ideas and new ways of working that young people bring to the company. That’s why we’ve just launched the third year of our innovative LEAP program.
“There are going to be new challenges and that’s what I’m looking forward to.
It’s not about today, it’s about what can I be tomorrow.”
Sofia A, customer support leader, Denmark
Fast-track leadership training
LEAP stands for Lead, Evolve, Achieve and Progress. It’s a one-year leadership training program for people with less than five years’ professional experience. The intent of the program is to identify, develop and support young talents, and fast-track team members with the greatest potential into leadership positions. Throughout the year, participants get involved in a variety of experiences including:
- Leadership training
- Collaborating on an international strategic project, and reporting the findings and recommendations to the leadership team
- Being coached by a senior executive in the company.
“At Parker, there are plenty of opportunities for me to develop, not only professionally, but also personally.”
Robert S, junior production manager, Germany
Success with real-world challenges
During the first two years, 33 colleagues took part in LEAP. And for the year ahead, Parker has enrolled 27 people from 10 countries. The participants know to expect a real-world, challenging experience that demands commitment, hard work and going the extra mile.
LEAP offers a range of benefits, for both program participants and Parker. Participants are benefiting from development activities and coaching, as well as expanding their professional network, increasing their career contacts and getting a high exposure to international job opportunities. On Parker's side, we are ensuring that a healthy pipeline of future leaders is built while benefiting from fresh contributions to strategic projects.
“I know that while I’m helping the company grow, I’m also growing personally.”
Cebo M, junior sales engineer, South Africa
