Fortune Honors Parker on its 2014 List of World’s Most Admired Companies

Parker again included on Fortune’s list of “World’s Most Admired Companies” in 2014Parker was once again named to Fortune Magazine's "World's Most Admired Companies" list, the definitive annual ranking of corporate reputations. This year Parker improved on its strong performance in previous surveys, earning a spot near the top of the Industrial Machinery category. 

Approximately 1,400 companies were considered for this year's list. Entrants were selected from the Fortune 1,000 (the 1,000 largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue), non-U.S. companies in Fortune's Global 500 database with revenue of $10 billion or more, and the top foreign companies operating in the U.S.

Companies were sorted by industry, with the 15 largest for each international industry and the 10 largest for each U.S. industry selected to be part of the survey process. A total of 692 companies from 30 countries were surveyed.

Top executives and managers were asked to rank each company on the list across nine key attributes of reputation including: innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, quality of products/services and global competitiveness.

The following are highlights regarding Parker’s performance:

  • Parker ranked 2nd out of 11 companies in the Industrial Machinery category, a substantial improvement of 3 ranking positions over the 2013 results.
  • With a total score of 7.32, rating Parker across the nine reputational characteristics, Parker did make the list of "World's Most Admired Companies."
  • Only the Top 50 on the list were rank ordered and will be featured in the print version of the magazine. Other rankings were completed by Industry category.
  • ABB was ranked 1st in the Industrial Machinery category, ahead of Parker by 1/100th of a total point. 
  • The top 6 companies from the Industrial Machinery ranking, including Parker, were included in the Most Admired List.
  • Parker was one of 9 companies surveyed in Ohio who made the Most Admired list.
  • Within our industry, Parker's ranking by reputational characteristic was as follows (out of 11): Innovation 2nd; People Management 2nd; Use of Corporate Assets 1st; Social Responsibility 3rd; Quality of Management 1st; Financial Soundness 1st; Long-term investment 1st; Quality of Products/Services 2nd; Global Competitiveness 2nd.

This ranking in the Most Admired Companies list represents the commitment of Parker employees to premier customer service, sustained financial performance and profitable growth.
