In most types of surface mining, hydraulically powered heavy equipment is used to remove the overburden and then to extract the mineral. Many different types of equipment are used in surface mining operations and support services, and to support this market, Parker provides hose products and services that are engineered, manufactured and tested to keep your equipment running and get the job done.
Our hoses have been underground, above ground, all over the world and all over the equipment used to extract product from the mines. We know what’s important to keep your operation running:
Reducing downtime, and
Extending your maintenance cycles.
We make a variety of hoses to support mining applications. And we know how hard it is to be out in the field working with them. Because of their construction, spiral hoses are tough to work with, generally not flexible and tough to bend. Parker hose is more flexible and easy to work with, and not at all like the black pipe you’re used to working with.
Our Compact Spiral hose is lightweight and flexible. And much easier to work with for installation and routing. There are two versions - 6000psi and 5000psi – and they’re available in a wide range of sizes so you can get the right one for your application. When Parker hose is made, it’s tested to twice the industry standard for impulse cycles. That means it’s designed to work, work, work.
Your maintenance cycles should be extended and you’ll have more productive days on the job between repairs.
To further support your surface mining applications, Parker offers a wide range of hoses in 3,000 4,000, 5,000 and 6,000 psi. They come with both Tough Covers and Super Tough covers.
Parker’s Tough Cover provides 80 times the abrasion resistance as compared to standard rubber covered hose. And the Super Tough cover provides 450 times the abrasion resistance. Those are two great options to help extend the life of your hose and increase your uptime.
When you need to replace a hose, and eventually you will, you want a crimping system that is fast, easy and accurate. Parker’s Parkrimp style crimpers are easy to use for safe and reliable high-performance hose assemblies.
The teeth in Parker’s crimped fittings bite down to the hose wire for a metal to metal grip to ensure maximum integrity. That secure connection is essential when working in the higher pressures that mining equipment requires.
There are many advantages to using Parker hose, fittings and crimpers together, including that all three components are designed to produce accurate crimps from the first time they’re used.
Parkrimp system crimpers require ZERO calibration and continuously produce proper crimps time after time. With a variable style crimper, every time you switch to make a different size hose assembly, the crimper must be calibrated to the new crimp specification which wastes time and creates scrap if the first few crimps may are not within the specification.
To keep expensive downtime to an absolute minimum, the Parker Tracking System is the perfect solution for reducing unplanned costs. By documenting the components, location, service history and much more, PTS makes equipment maintenance and repair fast, easy and exact. With a unique ID, replacement products can be secured sight unseen in more than 25 countries.
But if your cost of downtime requires keeping critical spares and bulk inventory on hand, Parker’s Onsite Container is the way to go. Using it for secure storage AND as a highly efficient repair facility can significantly reduce the time it takes to obtain a spare component or to fabricate a replacement hose or tube assembly.
We know what it takes to keep you up and running. In fact, miners the world over refer to our products as being Mine Tough. To get more information on any of the surface mining products, go to Parker Hose Products Division or call 1-800-C-PARKER.
