When Parker's engineers set out to design a failsafe method for connecting a pipe to secure against blowout risks, we worked with customers to ensure that every challenge was addressed. Chief among these were lengthy welding processes and operator-dependency that leads to outcome variance.
Welding a typical connection can take up to 30 minutes per joint. Using Phastite for Pipe, an entire assembly can be completed in 10 minutes; a non-welded system for high-pressure piping applications can be assembled in minutes instead of hours. In addition, the time consuming and costly examination processes typically associated with welded pipe connections, such as radiography, liquid dye penetrant or x-ray inspection, can be eliminated.
Pressure, vibration, stress, torsion, tension, bending and static forces all conspire against the integrity of a pipe connection.
We put our Phastite for Pipe system through rigorous testing for extreme conditions along each of these parameters and asked the most respected professional organizations to oversee this testing process.
Phastite survived every stress placed on it, holding under dynamic working pressures of 6,000 PSI and static pressures up to 10,000 PSI. In some of the deepest operations of up to 15,000 feet, Phastite still performs. In fact, Phastite for Pipe earned the highest level of approval offered by DNV-GL for subsea performance and reliability.
Corrosion, a major concern in undersea operations, is almost non-existent because of the highly resistant stainless steel composition.
Procedures and materials you add to your operation require hazardous materials documentation and safety training. They may also add small to significant risks of worker injury and add to your worker's compensation premiums. Minimizing this time, risk and administrative burden is always a challenge.
