Parker Contributes to Hurricane Irma Relief Efforts

On Sunday, September 10, 2017, Hurricane Irma made landfall as a category four hurricane in the Florida Keys and later made landfall again as a category three hurricane in the Marco Island and Naples area of Florida. The storm subsequently travelled north across the state of Florida and also impacted Georgia and South Carolina. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this natural disaster.

Parker’s immediate priority has been to make sure that all team members in the affected areas are safe and accounted for - a process in still ongoing but close to complete.

Parker has four facilities and 310 team members in Florida. None of these facilities are reporting significant damage. Parker has 338 team members in four other affected locations in South Carolina and Georgia and none of these locations sustained significant damage. Parker’s four team members in Puerto Rico are also being reported as safe.

Our second priority is to do what we can to provide immediate support to our team members and the region. Affected team members in the region should contact their local human resources representative if they have questions or need assistance. Team members should also file a claim with their homeowner’s insurance and visit to apply online and establish an account. To apply by phone or if you have questions about the application or the help offered by FEMA call: 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621-3362), TTY 1-800-462-7585, 711 or VRS 1-800-621-3362

Parker has initiated its Employee Disaster Relief Fund, which provides dollars directly to affected team members from The Parker Foundation. Parker has also teamed with the American Red Cross to establish an employee giving portal where Parker team members in the United States can contribute financially to the relief efforts and have those dollars matched one for one by The Parker Foundation.

A link to the portal is available on the company intranet page and through a widely distributed letter from Parker Hannifin Chairman and CEO Tom Williams. Parker team members have already contributed approximately $99,000 to be matched by the Parker Foundation to support the relief effort.

Former employees and distributor partners are encouraged to contribute directly to Hurricane Irma Relief efforts on the general Red Cross website by visiting or to donate by phone call 1-800-435-7669.

Parker’s Water Purification Division, located in Carson, California has also partnered with Water Mission International and Samaritan’s Purse who are flying in much needed supplies to Sint Maarten, a central point for the relief efforts in the Caribbean. The division is providing nine of its desalination packages to the relief effort, which are capable of producing 10,000 gallons of clean water per day for the affected residents.

The recovery efforts from Harvey and Irma will continue for some time and we will continue to look for ways to support the recovery. Parker would like to thank our team members for their kindness and generosity to help those in need.
