Parker Hannifin Walks for Water in 2014

Parker Hannifin Walks for Water 2014Parker Hannifin supports Water Missions International’s quest to provide safe drinking water for people in developing countries and disaster areas around the world.  According to Water Missions International’s website,

“Every day, millions of women and children in developing countries walk miles to retrieve water for their family's daily needs.  In most cases, even after their long, difficult, and tiring trek, the water they have to drink is contaminated. Not only is water extremely heavy, many times the journey can be dangerous due to kidnappers, wild animals and rough terrains.”

Water Missions International is a nonprofit Christian engineering organization providing sustainable safe water and sanitation solutions for people in developing countries and disaster areas.

Parker Hannifin supports Water Missions International (WMI) in a variety of ways including participating in the Walk for Water, making a donation from the Parker Foundation, and providing technical assistance for on-going projects.

“Several of Parker’s divisions have been purifying water for years. We are proud to share this knowledge and engineering expertise to support such a great cause.”

Doug Blakeman, Parker Filtration’s Vice President of Marketing.

As a way to raise funds to support their mission, WMI hosts the Walk for Water.  This is a 3.5 mile walk that symbolizes the journey that millions of people make each day to find water for their families.  Participants in the Walk for Water start off carrying an empty bucket.  At the halfway point, the bucket is filled with water to be carried for the remainder of the walk.  Start of the Water Mission International's Walk for Water 2014This year, a representative from Parker’s Filtration Group as well as 23 employees and several family members from the Parker Hannifin Gas Turbine Fuel Systems Division in Mt Holly, South Carolina participated in this event.

Water Missions International, along with their partners – individuals, businesses, churches and others – is transforming lives around the world “through the gift of safe and Living Water”.

Parker Hannifin provides water purification systems that have been deployed to assist in recovery efforts in partnership with various relief agencies around the world.  Parker’s proven filtration technologies are able to support the entire process of collecting, purifying and testing water from local sources to assist relief efforts. I like Water Mission because they are an engineering and a lean directed NGO. They are deeply focused on the world water issue that takes 5000 + lives each day. I am happy to see Parker partner with WM.
